读英语书的读后感篇1

wizard of oz is a fairy tale carefully written by american writer lyman frank baum. the article contains the authors inspiration to the desire - dont think that the desire can never be realized. as long as you work hard and strive for it, then the desire will be realized by us.

the wizard of oz paints a moving story full of friendship, courage and trust. let us know that friendship is a kind of quiet and calm love, guided by reason, the habit of forming, the combination of long - term understanding and common, without jealousy, and no fear. true perseverance is that when a man is in trouble or danger, he can calm himself and do his duty.

the images depicted in the wizard of oz are rosie, scarecrow, iron man, lion, and oz. they have experienced a lot of things together: bravely defeated the evil western wicked witch; they worked together through the exquisite porcelain country and the wooded schwarzwald; found the good southern witch genda, finally finished the desire to go home with rosie, and lived happily with aunt amy and uncle henry.

by reading the work of wizard of oz, we must learn more about rosies steadfast spirit and optimistic attitude. although there are some frustrations and hardships to realize the ideal desire, as long as we have persevered efforts, one day, we feel that the desire to be impossible will be realized.

读英语书的读后感篇2

despite i’ve not in my childhood yet, i still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. the tales, which acpany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. this summer i’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. it’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the french author, antoine de st-exupery, the little prince.

as many other fairy-tales, the outline of the little prince is not very plex. “i”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the sahara. in this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the asteroid b612.

the little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. in that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

on his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. from these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the sahara, on the earth.

traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overe with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before.

at that time a fox appears. the fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word “tame”, bees his new friend. at the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. from that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.

读英语书的读后感篇3

notice: this was the companion piece of the adventures of tom sawyer, and also the continuation.

although it could be said that this book was the continuation, still, it started a whole new story of huck.

basic information:

huck: a real friend of tom sawyer

jim: a nigger (forgive me, though the word was offensive, it was the word which went through the whole book) who felt discontent of the widow, and ran away to seek freedom.

the king: a swindler who claimed to be a king, and went along with huck and jim to cheat money.

the duke: also a cheater, who went alongside with the king.

mr. and mrs. phelps: tom sawyer’s relatives.

while huck was being raised by the widow, miss watson, he found his father sitting in his room, and he was being brought away. there, the true adventures began…

while huck’s father left huck for three days, he ran away, and got to the island of jacksonville, which he was familiar to. however, the second night, he met jim! while he found out, jim was sound asleep. jim was being shocked to death when he found out that huck was there too (you know, jim was also a run-away, so he was also scared that someone would find him). then they were together, and got elsewhere.

they slept at day, and took actions at night. one day, they evidently met the king and the duke. actually, i have been foolish enough to believe that they were actually a king and a duke! to tell the truth, they were just a couple of cheaters. but then, they went along with huck and jim, and while they claimed that they were the royals, they were being treated in a good way (which i hated).

on the way, the king and the duke cheated a pretty lot of money. i could say that they nearly gained a thousand dollars. then they pretended to be the brothers in a family who had a large amount of money. however, they were being discovered, and they ran away as soon as they could.

while the days went by, huck was beginning to show detesting in the duke and the king, and he ran away from them when he sought a chance. however, he found out that jim was gone! soon, the two caught up, and the duke told him where to go. and this was the last time ever that huck should see these two fellows.

what was the most amusing thing was that, in the end, he met tom again in tom’s uncle’s house! mr. and mrs. phelps were waiting for tom for a very long time, and when they found a boy standing over their (huck, of course), they were so overexcited that they thought huck was tom! huck found himself in a real depressed situation: if tom came, how was he ever going to explain it all? he decided to go looking for tom.

when tom found out that huck was in front of him, he was surprised that huck was still alive (because when huck was lost, all of the people in town thought that huck was already killed)! tom was naturally a smart boy, and he came up with a way. he made himself sid, the brother of tom, and was also greeted by the phelps.

of course, jim was locked up, and tom promised huck to save him. they let jim do a lot of things, such as taking a rattlesnake as a pet, and also watering a tiny plant with his tears (trust me, i never had no idea what it was about). finally when, they made all of the efforts to save jim, they found that in miss watson (she was jim’s hostess)’s will, she already set free to jim!

读英语书的读后感篇5

the story of the little prince, is sad, a pain of love. love was serious and sincere, cut bone pain and unbearable.

the little prince's love, pure and elegant, sincere seriously. if the dead could make him back to his own the stars, if death can let him meet with the person i love, he will choose to die, threw because he is deeply in love with her, because his heart was tamed by rose. he did the same, he gently down, and as he came to earth is unknown.

thoreau said, people live a life of quiet desperation, he is far away from the crowd, the sun go down to find the root of all decadent, nothing, this is a dusty heaven. fortunately our hearts there is a story of the little prince, sad but beautiful, little prince sorrow for the pure love; good, because of love to give a person touched and hope.

because the story of the little prince, when we are in a quiet life, in the heart has a hope and tenderness, have touched and about domestic responsibilities.

don quixote is the work of cervantes, a spanish writer in the 17th century. of course, this is a great work, because the characters described by the author still exist today.

man is the unity of spiritual substance. for don quixote, we will find him ridiculous at the beginning. because what he did seemed so crazy. he sees himself as a just man, a man who acts with chivalry and justice everywhere. however, the author let us see is such a character, but did not do one thing right. don quixote's starting point is good. he should follow the chivalry spirit and do what he thinks is right. he also led an honest farmer, sancho, to the world with him. he rescues the children who are bound and fights for those who are in trouble. here we can't help but ask:

1. since don quixote is doing a good job, we can treat him as a good man. but why do we get tired of him when we think about the aftereffects of his work?

2. is there any madman like don quixote in reality?

3. in reality, what should we do when we encounter things that are unfair and do not conform to our own values?

let me first answer the first question. don quixote's spiritual quality is good, but he does things regardless of the consequences, and only regards reality as his fantasy tool of chivalry, which is very stupid and undesirable. blindly following the heroism of others will pay a heavy price.

let's answer the second question. these people still exist in reality. take some famous people who dare to tell the truth. there is nothing wrong with their courage to criticize the powerful and expose the darkness. but some people don't view the reality of customers and criticize them, and finally they leave the market bitterly.

the third question everyone has their own answers. but reason should be a criterion, and people should make correct decisions according to their actual situation and the situation of the event. we should advocate heroism, but we should base our actions on reason.

reason is the measure of emotion, reality is the reflection of spirit. in a diverse world, only by polishing your eyes can you do the right thing.

读英语书的读后感篇7

walden is a masterpiece written by henry david thoreau (1817-1862), who was born in concord, massachusetts. the age he lived had witnessed the flourish of capitalism as well as the prosperity of industrialization and urbanization. during the 19th century, the american economy developed at so fast rate that most people were bound up in pursuing the material satisfaction , while ingored the spiritual life to a great extent. but thoreau was quite different from other people, he disdained the modern civilization and attached more importance to the spirit than the material. he thought many people of his time lived in a non-human-like modern society and many modern appliances, such as trains and telegraphs, had done harm to peoples harmonious life peace and also broken the relationship between human and nature.

in order to prove that without the modern instruments , people can also live a happy life, in 1845, he moved into a cabin on the shore of walden pond and live there alone for two years to get close to the nature .walden, is the famous book mainly talks about his life and thoughts during those days living in the woods .

thoreau was so happy with the life living near the lake of walden that he felt it a sweet grace to have the nature accompany and even the sounds of rain and the sights around his house were full of sincere friendship. in his eyes, the nature was an intimate friend of him and all things in the nature were lively and vivacious. and all kinds of animals in the wood, such as field mouses, robins and wild rabbits were amicably treated and regarded as his adorable companions. he even thought that plants were also had the right to live equal with human beings. just because of this, he even blamed himself for hitting chestnut trees with stones. from many words or sentences, we can easily feel thoreaus deep love and care towards nature.

besides, thoreau was a pioneering nature lover, who called on people to stop destorying nature but protect it by setting himself an example to others. the consciousness of the environmental protection is becoming more and more important in our modern society, while the whole world is trapped in some serious ecological crisises resulting from hunting and killing animals, cutting down trees and polluting the rivers for pursuit of human beings own interests. we all have the common sense that the number of wildlife is decreasing, the area of lake is shrinking, and the water is not clear any more. whats worse, environment problems such as globe warming, climate change and air and water pollution are deteriorating during the commercial process . so its high time that we should realize we never be the dominator of the whole world conquring nature, but should spare no efforts to improve the environment right away. that is, we should comply with the natural laws, make reasonable utilization of natural resources and keep the harmonious development between the society and the environment. only in this way will we has an opportunity to embrace a bright future and achieve a sustainable society .

in the book, walden, thoreau not only advocated the protection of nature, but also encourage people to comprehend and return to nature. he told us using his own experience that by living a simple life close to nature, we human beings will find out the true value of life and significance of existence.

after reading the book, what impressed me most is the description of the fascinating scenery around the walden pound, especially these sentences: "a lake is the landscapes most beautiful and expressive feature. it is earths eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature. the fluviatile trees next the shore are the slender eyelashes which fringe it, and the wooded hills and cliffs around are its overhanging brows". to thoreau, the walden lake is like a charming and melting girl , who has slender eyelashes and likes to dress herself in different beautiful clothes with the changes of different seasons.

every morning after getting up, thoreau would have a bath in the walden lake to start a new day. after that, he used to wander around the pond and refresh himself with the fresh air. in summer days , he cultivated a piece of land and growed beans, blackberries, johnsworts and the like. the depiction of his leisure rurality spontaneously reminds me of tao yuanming, the famous chinese poet, who lived in the jin dynasty and made his life meaningful by returning to the nature and perfecting himself. if thoreau and tao yuanming lived in the same period and place, they would probably become best friends.

from the book, we know that during the years when thoreau lived near the walden, he did not completely isolate himself from the outside world. sometimes he went to the town and did odd jobs and would receive visitors and friends in his cabin at times. as i mention before, the intention for his living in the woods was that he wanted to teach people how to live a simple life, achieve enjoyment from the nature, free oneself from the strained daily life and what is more important is to reevaluate the value of social life.

thoreaus though of enjoying a simple life has a more realistic significance and have become a valuable spiritual wealth in our modern society. with the development of the material civilization, peoples desires are swelling limitlessly and many people are busy with the pursuit of wealth and luxurious life by any means, including at the expense of nature. however, even in the society materially affluent and technologically advanced , people are not be more happier than those people who lived centuries ago, but even feel less satisfactory and complaint more about their present life as a result of having unbounded desires of getting more and better. therefore, many people who possess a lat have become slaves of machine, working more but do not have the ability to enjoy what they have.

in the book walden, thoreau had realize this problem several hundreds ago. thus, he set his mind to give a enlightenment to awake people and encourage them to live a simple life. his thoughts have great similarity with the belief of our chinese humanism, that is, the meaning of life lies in the sane and healthy enjoyment of a simple life. in fact, thoreau and his teacher and friend emerson praised highly on confucianism and both them benefited a lot from it. i am very happy to see the interlinked place between chinese culture and western culture.

reading this book is like having a tranquil steam flow through my heart, washing the dust in my mind. it teaches me how to keep a pure spirit in the complex society, set proper goals for my life as well as enjoy the endows of nature. in short, i feel it quite worthwhile to read the book walden. i sincerely hope more and more people would like to read this book and receive benefits from it .
